I first heard about The Universities at Shady Grove (USG) from a classmate who was in one of my health fitness classes at Montgomery College (MC). Initially, I wondered what USG was and how it worked. My friend explained to me that USG was a campus comprised of nine Maryland public universities and offered multiple programs from those universities.

Upon hearing this, I wanted to find out if an Exercise Science program was offered at USG. After visiting USG’s website, I was ecstatic to discover that Salisbury University did indeed offer an Exercise Science program. I immediately contacted the program advisor, where I learned more about the program and scheduled a meeting to tour the campus. I was blown away with how nice the campus was and all of the amenities that were offered. I applied to Salisbury University and selected to take my classes on the USG campus and here I am!

Health and fitness have always played a big role in my life. I played various sports in high school and since starting college I fell in love with weight lifting. Because of this, I wanted to gain more knowledge in health and fitness in hopes that I could spread the joy fitness brings to others. I am now in my last year at USG and I recently became a Student Ambassador. Like my friend did for me, I am able to help spread the word about this amazing place called USG. I tell prospective students the many benefits of taking classes at USG, which include saving money, a convenient location, and additional scholarship opportunities.

Currently, I serve as a volunteer EMT at Germantown Volunteer Fire Department and becoming a professional EMT/Paramedic has appealed to me greatly. But it is also my hope to work with athletes. No matter what career path I choose my passion for health and fitness will always come first and I want to make sure I am impacting people’s lives through exercise and healthy behaviors.
