I started my collegiate career at Montgomery College (MC), studying communication. In one of my required communication classes, two academic advisors from the Communication Program offered at the Universities of Shady Grove (USG) came in and talked to the students about the opportunities on working towards your bachelor's degree on the Shady Grove campus. After talking to my advisor I decided to apply to the University of Maryland, College Park and enroll in the Communication program at USG.

While working towards my bachelor degree, I landed a social media internship with the Center for Student Engagement and Financial Resources (CSEF) at USG. While working for CSEF, I was tasked with creating flyers about upcoming events to post on social media. I began to realize I had a love for graphic design. With great help and encouragement from one of my communication professors, Bob Coleman, and all my supervisors at CSEF, I applied to the University of Baltimore (UB) Integrated Design program
(formerly Publications Design)
after completing my bachelor degree.

I am now a graduate student at UB and I still work with CSEF as an office assistant, and I continue to run their social media. I am also a member of the Graduate Student Association (GSA).

I decided to continue my education at USG because it is cost-effective. I can save money by living at home and not have to commute to my home campus. I have also benefited from exceptional mentors that have pushed me to be an excellent student. Without UB at USG, I would have not gained the skills and knowledge that I have learned today. After graduating with a Master's in Publication Design, I plan on finding a career in print media. With the skills, experiences, and knowledge that I have gained, I know I am going to be successful in my future career.
