I found out about The Universities at Shady Grove (USG) while I was studying at Montgomery College (MC). I was introduced to the Transfer Access Programs, where I learned about the Terp Transfer Partnership program. I decided to enroll and was able to take advantage of the guaranteed admission benefit for the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Even though I was still a student at MC, I was able to access USG's academic advisors, career coaches, and student services. With the help of a TAP coordinator, I made a  customized transfer plan. I chose to complete my program at USG for a variety of reasons:

  • USG is affordable. Not only do I get to enjoy the financial benefits of living at home, but I also have more scholarship opportunities available!
  • USG offers over 40 different scholarships in addition to the scholarships offered by my main campus.
  • Small class sizes so I can interact with my classmates and professors.
  • A vibrant student life, which made it easy to get involved during my first semester.

USG has helped prepare me for the real world. During my first semester at USG, I became part of the Student Ambassador Program. This program has helped me enrich and enhance my leadership and communication skills, personal growth, and professional development.

Another way USG has helped prepare me for the real world is through the Career and Internship Services Center (CISC). A CISC tutor helped edit my resume and helped me find an internship at an accounting firm. My future careers goals are to work at an accounting firm and later open up my very own firm. I would also like to earn a Master’s degree in business administration.
