  • For best consideration, students applying from two-year institutions are strongly encouraged to earn an Associate’s Degree.
  • Students may apply up to 60 credits from their previous two-year institution/s.
  • The required GPA is 2.5 or better for best consideration and a minimum of C- or better in all prerequisites.

*PHYS331&332 are offered at USG.  In order to ensure they are completing the correct physics requirements, students are strongly encouraged to take their physics coursework at USG.  PHYS121&122 are not acceptable for graduation from the Biological Sciences major.  To find out with courses  transfer to UMD visit: the Transfer Credit Center.

Note that up to two of the prerequisites may remain uncompleted when entering the Shady Grove program with the exception of Principles of Biology I, Calculus I, and all four lower level Chemistry courses. The other prerequisites can be completed during your studies at Shady Grove by enrolling in courses at either Montgomery College (or another transfer institution) or the Universityof Maryland, College Park main campus.
