I have always been interested in working with computers, so decided to enroll at Montgomery College (MC) to pursue a degree in Cybersecurity. While at MC a counselor told me that I could complete my bachelor’s degree at the University of Maryland University College (UMUC) at USG. I completed my undergraduate degree in Cybersecurity and Business Administration at UMUC at USG. Then I enrolled in UMUC’s Master of Science in Cybersecurity and MBA programs.

There are several reason I chose to attend a program at USG:

  • Convenient location, I wanted to stay local and complete my degree on a physical campus
  • Transferring credits from MC to UMUC was easy and allowed me to complete my undergraduate degree even faster
  • USG offers a full service campus where I was able to take advantage of the Student Resources, Library, Gym, and Cafeteria
  • Student Life and Leadership Opportunities, I was a member of the Student Ambassador Program and a member of the USG Student Senate

While going to school, I am also a student employee. I am currently working at the USG Office of Information Technology (IT) help desk. Working at the same location where I go to school has been instrumental in the amount of time and money I have saved as well as the valuable skills I have learned.

I feel that my leadership and job positions at USG have prepared me well for my future academic and career goals. My future educational goals are to pursue my Doctorate degree in Computer Science. My future career goals are to land a job working for a government contractor like Lockheed Martin or the federal government. One day, I would also like to teach cybersecurity to a new generation of students.
