USGSA Constitution

USG Student Association (USGSA)

The Universities at Shady Grove Student Association (USGSA) was established in 2002 to serve as an advocate for the USG student body. It is comprised of select student representatives who serve on behalf of each of the undergraduate programs offered at USG.

The mission of USGSA is to act as the liaison between the student bodies of USG's member institutions and the administration of USG. Representatives serve as a voice and resource for students, thereby improving operations, the center environment and students' experiences at USG. Members meet on a regular basis and participate in a variety of activities that serve to better USG including student forums, community service projects, student life activities and more.

Mission

The mission of the USGSA is to serve as a student advocacy and advisory group which acts as a liaison between the students and administration of USG to communicate on behalf of the student population. The group also serves to identify and engage in activities which enhance the student experience and are supportive of the USG community at large.

Goals

  1. Collect, evaluate, and address student complaints and concerns and suggestions relating to their experience at USG.
  2. Increase knowledge among the students, faculty, and the surrounding community about the services of USGSA.
  3. Generate increased interaction between students from different programs by encouraging student organizations to collaborate with one another to create unique social and recreational activities at USG.
  4. To enhance the partnership, collaboration, communication and linkages among the USG community including pursuit of activities which recognize students, faculty, staff, alumni area businesses and other constituencies.

Get Involved in USGSA

Whether you are interested in filling an open representative position, attending meetings, or volunteering at one of our events, participating at any level in the USGSA is a great way to meet students from other programs, develop important social and leadership skills and contribute to the general improvement of the USG student experience.

If you are interested in becoming a student representative, please complete the USGSA Application.

All others who are interested in participating in USGSA should contact the Advisor, Julia Rader, in the Office of Student Services for more information about current opportunities.
