- Guided Study Sessions (GSS)
What are GSS's?
Guided Study Sessions:
- Are small study groups formed for difficult courses.
- Are led
by a student/peer who has received training and has taken the
course before and/or has an advanced knowledge of the material.
- Teach
you basic study skills along with new material. You not only
learn the material, but learn skills you can take with you
into other courses.
- Takes a proactive approach. By starting
off the semester in GSS, you can more easily stay on top of
the course material and requirements, rather than waiting until
challenges come up or you get behind and then seeking help.

Guided Study Session leaders:
- Are a diverse group of students who are interested in peer
mentoring for difficult classes.
- Offer assistance for courses
in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Accounting, and Business
Finance.
- Are students who have received training and have taken
the course before and/or have an advanced knowledge of the
material.
- Are students who attend one of the universities at
the Universities of Maryland at Shady Grove and are affiliated
with either UMBC, UMB, or UMCP

I am a senior in the Social Work program with a minor in
psychology. I am scheduled to graduate in May, and I hope
to go to graduate school after that. Currently, I have an
internship working at a nursing and rehabilitation facility
with older adults, and I hope to pursue a career in this
field. |

I am a nursing major with a previous B.S. in Biology,
who is switching careers to get into the clinical area.
Eventually I would like to work as a pediatrics or family
nurse practitioner and do some clinical research further
down the line.

applying to grad school in hopes of pursuing a doctorate
in clinical psychology. I am primarily interested in becoming
a clinician but am also interested in teaching and research. |

Degree in Biology from St. Mary's College of Maryland.
I haven't chosen a specialty area of nursing that I'd like
to pursue, but I've enjoyed the ICU and NICU so far.
