B.S. in Simulation and Digital Entertainment

(Coming Fall 2007)

Program Information

The University of Baltimore offers a bachelor's degree in Simulation and Digital Entertainment at the Universities at Shady Grove on weekdays during daytime hours.

This bachelor's degree program involves students in the development and creation of interactive-software applications, with a special emphasis on the entertainment industry. Students can unlock the secrets of game development in addition to understanding the professional usage of simulation in a wide variety of fields. Students participate in development teams to build solutions for education, training, research and the entertainment game industry.

Why study simulation and digital entertainment?

The state of Maryland boasts the largest concentration of computer game developers outside of California, with more than 100 game-development companies and agencies in the Baltimore-Washington area.

Through an internship and a capstone seminar, students work hand in hand with professionals to test and build games and simulations. Students graduate from UB with their own personal game and simulation portfolios that they can use to launch their careers or to apply to graduate programs in areas such as information technology, interaction design, business or visual design.

Admission Requirements

Admission to the Simulation and Digital Entertainment program is open to students who hold an associate's degree or have at least 56 transferable credits averaging 2.0 on a 4.0 GPA scale.

If applicants have not earned an associate's degree in Simulation and Digital Entertainment or a related area, they should be prepared to satisfy four additional core course requirements.

Various articulation agreements between UB and area community colleges are designed to promote smooth transitions and credit transfer to the University. More information about articulation agreements is available through Community College Relations at UB.

To apply, students must complete an undergraduate admissions application, either online or in paper format, submit the appropriate application fee and request that official transcripts be sent directly to UB from all colleges or universities previously attended.

Applications are available online, by calling the Office of Admissions at 1.877.ApplyUB or by visiting the Office of Student Services at the Universities at Shady Grove.

Admission Deadlines

Complete application packets must be received by Aug. 1 for consideration for fall admission, and by Jan. 9 for consideration for spring admission.
