B.S. in Computer and Information Science
Program Information
The computer and information science major studies the problem-solving skills and techniques needed to provide computer-based solutions to practical problems, including fundamental practical knowledge in the fields of software engineering, relational databases, programming languages, operating systems, computer networks and distributed systems. The major in computer and information science produces graduates with an educational foundation suitable for careers in application development, system development, network planning or database implementation.
Electives
Mathematics techniques and experience are valuable tools for graduates of any computer discipline. Students are encouraged to take mathematics courses, in addition to the mathematics general education requirement.
Admission Requirements
University of Maryland University College (UMUC) accepts no more than 60 semester hours total from a two-year school and no less than a cumulative grade point average of 2.0.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Tuition rates for programs offered at USG are those of the degree-granting institution. Financial aid is awarded by the institution offering the degree program, but facilitated by the UMUC Student Services Office.
