Partnerships are the Heart of USG

The Universities at Shady Grove (USG) was founded in 2000 by the University System of Maryland as a collaboration of nine universities to increase pathways to affordable, high quality undergraduate and graduate degrees and help fuel economic development in Montgomery County and the surrounding region.

Partnerships in Education, Workforce and Economic Development

USG is committed to working closely with the K-12 school system, local community colleges, employers and our university partners to provide the region with a well-prepared labor force and ensure students achieve successful and rewarding careers after graduation.

Business, government and community leaders who serve on USG’s Board of Advisors provide ready information about changing workforce demands, giving USG the ability to respond quickly to the needs of employers by adding and enhancing new and existing academic programs.

Scholarship and Donor Recognition Luncheon

The annual Scholarship and Donor Recognition luncheon provides an opportunity for scholarship recipients and their donors to meet and celebrate the student’s achievements, while acknowledging the donor's contribution to their success.

Held each Fall, the event honors hundreds of scholarship recipients and each donor’s extraordinary generosity.

“This event is about creating a culture of “giving back”, a culture in which I believe is strongly embedded at the Universities at Shady Grove, and embraced by students, faculty, staff and our education and community partners.”

- Dr. Stewart Edelstein, executive director of The Universities at Shady Grove.
