Description: A basic introduction to classical approaches typically used to describe population health. Emphasizes appropriate summaries and methods of health utilization data display in tables and in graphs. Use of rates, ratios and proportions are addressed. Introduces basic data management, exploratory data analysis and report generation. Students gain hands-on experience in use of computer applications such as spreadsheets, statistical packages and data base management while becoming acquainted with useful health data sources.
