Senior vice president of Human Resources for Human Genome Sciences, Inc., in Rockville, MD, became a member of the Board of Advisers in 2005. As an officer at one of the mid-Atlantic region's premier biopharmaceutical companies, Ms. Bateson partners with USG administrators and faculty on issues and programs of interest to area employers and speaks with students about professional opportunities in the industry. A member of the Communications Advisory Committee, Ms. Bateson is interested in creating greater recognition of USG in the region. Additionally, Ms. Bateson draws on her expertise in human resources to help develop innovative projects and internships for students and faculty.

Ms. Bateson has more than twenty five years of experience in human resources. Ms. Bateson was director of human resources and administration for Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, L.L.P before joining Human Genome Sciences and also held an executive position with J.P. Morgan and Co. Inc. Ms. Bateson also serves on the Board of Trustees of Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts.
