General Information
This facility is operated by the University System of Maryland in conjunction with the University of Maryland University College; each institution offering programs at USG supplements these operations with staff and resources to aid in the administration and logistics of individual programs. This handbook is provided to you to assist you as an instructor at this location.

USG is open as follows (does not include holiday closures): Please note that the schedules are for two different buildings.

Classrooms
All classrooms contain six ft. tables, chairs, overhead projector, whiteboards, board markers and erasers. Classrooms are unlocked when classes are scheduled. However, if necessary, rooms can be opened by a facilities employee or guard on duty. Guards are not authorized to open computer rooms, IVN rooms, biology laboratories or the nursing laboratory. Classroom temperature is controlled by thermostat; a thumbscrew on the bottom right adjusts the setting to the desired temperature. If problems are encountered, please inform facilities personnel.
Guards/Security-Access System
Contracted guard service is provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition to unlocking classrooms, guards are available to escort students and faculty to their vehicles or to assist with security problems. A closed circuit security system with limited access is also utilized at USG. The guard is available in SG II, first floor lobby, or by phone at 202.528.5656 (Cell) or 301.738-6065 (SG III Lobby).
Lounge Areas and Food Service
Lounges with vending machines and microwaves are located on the second floor of both buildings. In addition, the Shady Grove Café is a great place to get snacks, meals, and drinks on the go. The Café is located on the second floor of SG II.

Parking
USG has two parking lots adjacent to its two buildings. Parking is restricted to these designated sites, but permits are not required. Please do not park along the street. Currently no faculty-parking fee has established; however, do expect a fee in the near future.
Wireless Network Access
USG now offers free wireless network access to students, faculty and staff. All users are required to register to take advantage of the wireless network and will be asked to complete a registration form and present a valid university photo ID at the time of registration. Students must register in person at the open computer lab, ED I Room 207, during open computer lab hours.
Wireless access is provided in the following locations:
- Auditorium
- Library
- Building I Student Lounge
- Building II Student Lounge
- Multipurpose rooms
- Outdoor corridor between Buildings I and II
