Library Reserves

  • What are reserves?
Reserves are required course materials that are made available in print to students taking courses at USG. Journal articles, book chapters and course-specific materials (e.g., notes, practice quizzes and exams) are all items that can be placed on reserve.
  • Who can place items on reserve?
Only faculty members can request items be placed on reserve for a course.
  • How do I place items on reserve?
Faculty members can request that items be placed on reserve at the circulation desk, Library and Media Center Services, by filling out a Reserves at the USG Grove Library and Media Center Services Form.
  • What about copyright issues?
Items may be used for the first time for one semester only under the fair use statute of the copyright law. For repeated use, copyright permission must be obtained for further use. Faculty are responsible for obtaining copyright permissions.
  • When should I submit my materials?
Requests to place items on reserve should be submitted two to four weeks before the beginning of the semester. If possible, please have the materials available to be put on reserves. If not, the library staff will assist the faculty in locating the materials.
