About the Program

Welcome to the Biological Sciences Program offered by the University of Maryland, College Park at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG).  Students can streamline thier transfer from a community college or a four-year institution to the University of Maryland, College Park while staying in Montgomery County.  Our 2 year transfer program in Biological Sciences forcuses on physiology and neurobiology.  Students who wish to exit the program with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree may go onto to graduate or professional school such as: medical, dental and pharmacy school.  While others, go onto Osteopathic School and other allied helath professions such as Occupational Therapy, Physcial Therapy and Public Health.  For more information about the Biological Sciences Program:  Click here.

Physics I and II are to be taken at the University of Maryland, College Park at USG.         To be a competitive appliacnt to the Biological Sciences Program, students should complete approximately 60 applicable credits and achieve junior standing. A grade of C- or better is required in the major courses listed above.  Additionally, completion of Fundamental Studies and most lower-level university general education requirements is needed. Visit:  http://www.ugst.umd.edu/core/overview/WhoCo.html to determine if you fall under the University CORE or new General Education requirements.  Completion of an A.A. or A.S. Degree from a Maryland Community College will show completion of the UMD General Education Requirements (except for Professional Writing and any credits needed to complete the minimum 40 credit requirement). Visit www.tce.umd.edu to determine how courses from other institutions transfer to University of Maryland, College Park.

JOin us for an open house

USG Open Houses are a great way to have your transfer questions addressed.  Prospective students have the opportunity to meet with our Program Director, take a tour of the campus, obtain finanacial aid and scholarship information. Take the time to explore suggested transfer pathways and prepare for admissions!

Open Houses are generally held once every semester and in summer.   The next Open House will be held  in spring 2015 (Date TBA) please check back.
