Post-Baccalaureate Graduate Certificate Program in Literacy Coaching

Designed for highly qualified teachers who wish to become literacy leaders and coaches in their schools, the Post-Baccalaureate Graduate Certificate Program in Literacy Coaching is an eighteen (18) credit graduate program focused on cognition, reading, written communication, TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages), ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages), special education/inclusion, and literacy coaching and leadership.

Upon successful completion of the program, candidates receive a Post-Baccalaureate Graduate Certificate from the Graduate School of the University of Maryland. Twelve (12) graduate credits in the program may be applied to a Master of Education in Teacher Leadership (M.Ed.) degree. The Maryland literacy coaching program meets the standards for the preparation of literacy coaches established by the International Reading Association (IRA), the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS), and the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA).
